Not long after I posted my last post about wanting to build a pc to replace my Mac g4, Tammy and I decided to go ahead and build it because, we basically filled up the 2 hard drives on the mac (down to 2 gigs free) so we were out of space which started to make the g4 move a lot slower than normal. I originally priced everything on newegg.com but when we decided to go ahead and build it, we took a trip to Microcenter in Marietta and found deals on the processor, power supply and monitor that were cheaper than newegg, so I got those locally and then ordered the motherboard, windows, hard drives, dvd drive and ram from newegg.com. After everything was here, I put it all together and double checked all of my wired a few times to make sure I didn’t blow anything up and powered it up. The first thing I did was go through the BIOS and make sure the processor, ram and such was all recognized correctly. Then i restarted and installed windows and all of the drivers. After installing the graphics driver, I thought there was a problem with the motherboard because it would restart and then the monitor would power down, so I reinstalled windows a few times….it ended up being that the new graphics driver didn’t install until after your logged in, so to solve it, I hooked up my speakers, restarted and waited until I heard the windows noise, then with no video typed in my password and pressed enter and then the monitor powered back on and it works just fine now. This computer is so fast is ridiculous and this is with the notoriously slow Windows Vista. When I get my Windows 7 upgrade disc in, it will be even faster. I will post the Windows subscores when I get home.
Now I just have to get CS4 and install it, switch over my fonts and then I’m up and running.
